|Schneider (lower body) has been placed on injured reserve after having to leave Thursday's game against the Senators after two periods.
Analysis: Despite Schneider going on IR, this could be just a one-game absence because the Devils have a week off after playing the Sharks on Friday. Schneider, who stopped 20 of 24 shots Thursday, is 4-1-0 despite having a 3.30 GAA.

|Sergachev scored the first two goals of his career to lead the Lightning to a 2-0 win at Columbus on Thursday.
Analysis: The ninth overall pick by Montreal in 2016 also had two assists Tuesday in New Jersey and has six points in the first eight games.

|Namestnikov had an assist Thursday in Columbus.
Analysis: Namestnikov has never had more than 35 points in a season, but he's on pace to shatter that mark with three goals and five assists through Tampa Bay's first eight games. Namestnikov has at least one point in seven of those contests.

|Kucherov's seven-game goal streak came to an end Thursday, but he assisted on both goals in a 2-0 win at Columbus.
Analysis: Kucherov joined the great Mario Lemieux as the only players in NHL history to begin a season with goals in seven consecutive games Tuesday, but he came up short in catching Lemieux's record of 12 straight. He has 14 points in the first eight games.

|Krejci left Thursday night's game against the Vancouver Canucks after the second period because of an upper-body injury but is expected to play Saturday.
Analysis: Krejci had a goal and an assist in Boston's four-goal first period but had logged only 8:21 of ice time through two and was declared out during the third. The goal was his first of the season to go along with five assists in six games.

|Neuvirth was solid again with 23 saves Thursday, but he lost 1-0 to Nashville.
Analysis: In three starts this season, Neuvirth has turned aside 88 of 92 shots for a .957 save percentage. However, he's 1-2-0 as the Flyers have been shut out twice.

|Rinne made 28 saves Thursday to post his first shutout of the season, 1-0 at Philadelphia.
Analysis: Rinne has been solid in his last four starts, going 3-0-1 with four goals allowed. He gave up eight goals in his first two starts.

|Sissons' second goal in two games came early in the third period Thursday, and it lifted the Predators to a 1-0 win at Philadelphia.
Analysis: Sissons, who went without a point in his first four games this season, scored just eight goals in 58 contests in 2016-17.

|The Kings signed Laich to a one-year deal Thursday.
Analysis: Laich, 34, signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $650,000 if he sticks with Los Angeles. A veteran of 12 NHL seasons, Laich appeared in 27 games with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League last season. Laich had his best years with the Washington Capitals, scoring at least 20 goals in three consecutive seasons from 2007-10.

|The Kings gave a two-year contract extension to Forbort on Thursday.
Analysis: Forbort, the 15th overall pick by Los Angeles in 2010, has a pair of assists in six games this season. Forbort appeared in all 82 games last season, collecting two goals and 16 assists while posting a plus-8 rating.

|The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled Trotman from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League on Thursday.
Analysis: The former 210th overall pick of the Boston Bruins in the 2010 draft has played in 67 career games, all with Boston. Trotman had three goals and nine assists for 12 points during his three-year stint with Boston.

Analysis: The Blues are in Colorado on Thursday night, so Allen could be given the night off on the second half of the back-to-back.

|Carter underwent surgery to repair a cut on his left leg sustained in Wednesday night's game, and will be out indefinitely. TSN reported that the procedure on Carter was to repair a damaged ankle tendon, adding a best-case scenario for recovery is six to eight weeks.
Analysis: Carter, who led the team with 32 goals and 66 points last season, has three assists in the first six games.

|Quick stopped 36 shots in the Kings' 5-1 victory over the Canadiens on Wednesday.
Analysis: Quick is off to a sensational start, posting a 4-0-1 record with a 1.59 GAA and .950 save percentage. The Kings begins a six-game road trip Saturday in Columbus, and Quick has a 2.13 GAA in winning his last five starts there.
